REWIND: Dries Van Noten & Rick Owens outfit with a touch of Barcelona

This is the outfit I wore to the Noir Fashion Event I posted about here, as previously mentioned, I was in quite a hurry when I got dressed, and realised I was using 3 pieces from the same Dries Van Noten collection. I just shrugged my shoulders and went: "ah, well! At least I'm dressed"...and ran out the door:

Dress: Rick Owens draped silk dress with pockets (I have one hand in my pocket...)
Jacket: Dries Van Noten sequined cropped silk jacket
Sandals: Dries Van Noten
Clutch: Dries Van Noten silk & leather jewelled sequined & beaded clutch
Necklace: purchased from Gaudi museum in Barcelona (love it!)
Ring: Swarovski Nirvana

(please excuse my super excited face)

In less than 2 days I leave for a short weekend trip to Melbourne, not quite a 'leisure' trip (poor hubby has the exam of his life, and is quite stressed about it), but I will try to squeeze some shopping in (or at least some window shopping)...hm...what should I pack?

Noir Fashion Event & Recent Buys: Dries Van Noten silk sequined jacket & Lanvin flats

Two weeks ago I attended a fashion event featuring Australian designers' tribute to the colour 'black'...my favourite piece was the sparkly long dress with the draped back...Although not perfect, I was pleasantly surprised that the photos I took without flash (I am not a flash fan) still turned out ok, despite the darkness and moving models...I am afraid I was so focused on trying to take the pictures, I did not take note of which designer each dress was from (some included: Romance was Born, Nicola Finetti, Alannah Hill, and Therese Rawthorne)

pics: taken by yours truly

I wore my Dries Van Noten sequined silk jacket (recent buy), and in the 2 minutes I had to change (bad 'fat' day concurrently with an 'I have nothing to wear' day), I teamed it with the beaded & sequined sandals & clutch from the same collection (I know, shame on me), Rick Owens black dress, and a matte gold irregularly-sized oval rings long necklace I purchased from the Gaudi museum in Barcelona...

LOVE the trench version of this jacket shown on the runway:

Another recent buy (on their way to me), Lanvin ballet patent flats with bow (was hoping to find a plain pair, i.e. no bow, but cannot seem to find one in my size, figure I can always return them...but I do really need to start to stock up on more comfortable flats):

Fabulous weekend away...

We were greeted with homemade meringues & coffee at the Gourmet Retreat where we stayed overnight for a friend's amazing birthday celebration...

The gorgeous Gourmet Retreat had an 'Aspen' ski lodge feel to it, beautiful views of the vineyards, open fires & comfy lounges...

For the drive, I wore my Chloe jewelled stripe top I've had for a few years, a pair of David Lawrence
navy wool man-style pants & Dries Van Noten patent wedges...

After a few amazing cocktails (made with homemade Lemon Curd) - we went to our rooms to get dressed for dinner. I wore my Rick Owens silk dress & beaded Dries Van Noten sandals.

i.e. the same outfit HERE (tried to poladroid it, but it cropped the shoes off!)

13 bottles of French Champagne (mostly vintage) + 1 magnum bottle of champagne + 1 Salmanazar bottle of a our friends' Flagship Shiraz (i.e. 9000ml or the equivalent of 12 standard bottles of wine!) + numerous Lemon & Basil cocktails (yum!) + 20 friends = fun! (not so fun the next morning)

Delicious 9-course degustation by chef Hogg...

Surprise
! What was a milestone birthday celebration turned into a wedding celebration, when our friends tearfully announced they had secretly gotten married the day before! There was squealing, tears, cheers & feet stomping (uhm, that was me).

The beautiful view certainly helped us nurse our hangover on the next morning, when we ate breakfast in the amazing retreat's kitchen

Vegemite = an 'Aussie' cultural icon, also a spread I just cannot eat

It was truly a perfect & amazing weekend...

To buy or not to buy?

I am in love with my recent (and first) Rick Owens purchase, its clean lines, clever draping & silhouette, in addition to his brilliant use of sheer silk...

www.style.com

It has whetted my appetite for more...

I am now obsessing over this coat, particularly its sheer sleeves, sheer perfection!

To buy or not to buy? That is the question...

I couldn't take a decent picture of the dress (black is so hard to photograph!), especially the sheer draped back of it, I will try again with better lighting sometime soon. I probably shouldn't have popped my hands in my pockets, I look so wide! But I had to show the pockets off, they're so deep, and my hands keep automatically going in them!

Love:
*The bubble hem
*The draped back
*The sheer panel at the back, which also drapes
*The deep pockets
*I tried it on with every jacket/cardi/coat I own, and it goes beautifully with practically all of them! I think I can wear these for half a year in all different combinations...

Tonight I am dressing it down with a Margiela cardigan (so soft!), as I head out to dinner with the girls:

I would also love to thank Tina of Luphia Loves... and Shlomit Ofir: a few weeks ago, I was the lucky winner of Tina's amazing weekly giveaway draws. As such, I got to pick any pair of earrings from Shlomit Ofir's Etsy store, which was no easy feat, as she has so many beautiful earrings to pick from (and I see there have been a few additions from when I picked mine)! This young designer from Tel Aviv, has a beautiful collection of jewellery available in her store, and I'm now incredibly tempted by quite a few necklaces...

My pick were these
beautiful 'golden shimmer wire wrapped drop earrings'. I had almost forgotten about it, until today, when I received a slip in my mailbox saying I had missed a package. The Israeli stamps on the package had me even more excited. Inside, beautifully packaged, were my new beautiful earrings:

I am usually very selective when it comes to earrings, and don't often wear gold-toned jewellery, but I couldn't resist this elegant, geometric & simple design...They are two wire wrapped gold plated drops with a shimmering finish, hanging from gold plated anti-allergic ear wire. A small Nepherite stone bead, in a very light shade of mint green, hangs in the middle of each. Beautiful!

Can't wait to wear these!
