He may be on Hollywood's A-list, but to his daughters Ben Affleck is simply Daddy.

And after recently revealing his plans to become a more hands-on father, calling himself 'Mr Mom', the actor was spotted taking daughters to a children's party in Santa Monica yesterday.

His wife Jennifer Garner is usually at the forefront of parental duties when it comes to the couple's two girls, Violet, five and Seraphina, nearly two.

But this time the 38-year-old actress took a back-seat and looked on as Affleck took charge.

The father-of-two carefully lifted Seraphina out of the family car, and then walked hand-in-hand with Violet, carrying her backpack.

Stylishly dressed, Affleck and Garner looked the very picture of modern parents as they accompanied the children on their big day out.

Garner who is usually dressed down when she looks after the girls, was especially polished in a charcoal wool sweater, a pair of indigo boots and black leather riding boots.

She finished off the chic look with a giant black Hermes Birkin bag.

Affleck looked equally suave, rugged up in a charcoal coat, sweater and shirt combination and pair of jeans.

The Hollywood actor made his parental promise after recently completing work on his last movie, which co-stars Javier Bardem and Rachel McAdams.

He said he was planning to stay home for a while whilst his wife heads off back to work.
